Volunteers continue beautification work at Verrazzano Monument

Share

UNICO Rehoboth Area volunteers, along with those from Rehoboth in Bloom, a program sponsored by Rehoboth Beach Main Street, continue to promote the beautification of the downtown area at the Verrazzano Monument, Olive Avenue and the Boardwalk.

UNICO Rehoboth Area members join Rehoboth in Bloom volunteers to improve and beautify the grounds surrounding the Verrazzano Monument. Several meetings have resulted in the removal of invasive plants and weeds from the area around the Verrazano Monument, which is listed as the most-visited historical monument in Delaware. New flowers, plants and trees – conducive to the beach-front area – will be placed on the grounds in the fall and continued throughout the year.

This ongoing project has been encouraged repeatedly by organizations (including the Delaware Commission on Italian Heritage and Culture which had this monument erected in 2008), as well as residents of Rehoboth Beach and visitors.
