The 2020 Scholarship Program of the UNICO National Foundation has granted over $80,000 to college students on many levels and in many disciplines.
The Bernard and Carolyn Torraco Memorial Nursing Scholarship Fund awarded $2,500 to Giulia Randazzo of Milton, who is a nursing student at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia.
A lifelong resident of Milton and a graduate of St. Thomas Moore Academy in Magnolia, Giulia is preparing for a career as a neonatal nurse, and pursuing a minor degree in Italian culture.
While at the University of Pennsylvania, Giulia resides in Philadelphia, where she takes every opportunity for both nursing (with a work/study at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia) and exploring her heritage with the Penn Italian Club at various cultural sites in the area.
Other candidates interested in scholarships are encouraged to apply for the many opportunities available for 2021 by contacting unico.org.
The Immanuel Shelter of Nassau was awarded a monetary donation for the third time by the UNICO National Foundation – Torraco Food and Shelter Fund. This year’s grant of $1,000 will be presented in the fall. Organizations seeking financial assistance for food and shelter may also apply in early 2021 for next year’s grants. Applications are available by contacting UNICO Delaware District Governor Maria Teresa Morrison at unicodelawaredistrict1@gmail.com.
