UNICO hosts Italian Movie Night in Rehoboth

REHOBOTH BEACH – On Jan. 19, members of UNICO Rehoboth Area and guests enjoyed the annual Italian Movie Night with pizza, salad and popcorn. A segment of “Don Matteo – regularly featured on RAI -Italian TV – with English sub-titles, brought laughter and delight to attendees.

The new District Governor, Sal Ingal-lina, was introduced to the group. Ingallina has more than 30 years of experience as
a UNICO member and officer including service as president of the Cedar Grove New Jersey Chapter and governor of New Jersey District 4.

On Feb. 16, the Rehoboth Area Chapter celebrated Carnevale with a presentation by Rosemary Connelly, a local artist and writer. She is the author of the memoir “Two Years in Italy.” She shared passages from her book and a slide presentation about Carnevale and other celebrations she and her late husband (photographer Robert Connelly) enjoyed during their extended stay in Italy.

The menu for the evening was catered by Sunny Bay Café of Rehoboth Beach.

The March 19 meeting will have as its theme “Il Pane di San Giuseppe” – Saint Joseph’s Bread – and traditional customs for this special festival. The Brian Piccolo Scholarship ($1,500) will also be awarded at that meeting to the relative of a member who is a senior scholar/athlete.
