UNICO Delaware supports high school Italian curriculum

The Cape Henlopen High School in Lewes, Del., continues to offer and sponsor classes in Italian language and culture. The program, begun 17 years ago by Cristina Christy, is now being continued by Kristin Loffreda-Mancinelli. This four year program stresses conversation, the building of language skills and the promotion and preservation of Italian culture and customs.

At a recent meeting of UNICO Rehoboth Area, both Italian professors were introduced and expressed their gratitude for the chapter’s continued support of the program. Christy spoke of past accomplishments and plans for her retirement. Loffreda-Mancinelli presented goals for the future of the Italian program at Cape Henlopen based on her many years of teaching experience in the Philadelphia area. She and her family are happy to have relocated to the Rehoboth area, while still retaining family and ties to the Delaware Valley.
