UNICO assistance efforts benefit needy in Sussex

Share

A child at the Lighthouse for Broken Wings shelter receives Easter gifts.

As one of its national goals “service above self,” UNICO members remain faithful to helping those in need, as an individual effort or in cooperation with other charitable organizations.

Financial donations were given to the Knights of Columbus in support of their 40 Cans for Lent Drive, and to the St. Vincent de Paul Society, which provides food and financial assistance to local residents in need.

Easter baskets were prepared by members and volunteers, to be donated to a local homeless shelter. Filled with candy and items necessary to help the children remain safe, 36 baskets were donated to Toni Short, who directs the Lighthouse for Broken Wings.

The Rehoboth Area Chapter of UNICO remains active and will continue to assist those in need.

Regularly scheduled monthly meetings will resume in September, if conditions allow, but the service to others is continuous. Members are contacted via email with program updates and cultural activities.
