‘Real Housewives’ cast members bring their style of glitz and glamour to Live! Casino

If you’re not familiar with Bravo’s international reality television franchise, “The Real Housewives,” oh, what you’ve been missing!

Documenting the real lives of a group of affluent women who live in a particular city, the American franchise premiered in 2006 with “The Real Housewives of Orange County.” Following its success, New York became the second installment and Atlanta the third, both premiering in 2008; New Jersey the fourth in 2009; and the list goes on, to include 11 featured cities just in the United States.

There’s no shortage of entertainment and drama on the shows, as there’s quite a mix of personalities and temperaments among the cast members. The rotating wives include women in various stages of their careers and motherhood: restaurateurs and entrepreneurs; actors and performers; authors, and stay-at-home moms.  They travel to exciting vacation spots, host the most fabulous parties and events, and almost always have a glam squad in tow.

Viewers follow the casts for years and feel like they know the housewives. The cast members become quite famous, amassing devoted fan bases with social media followers numbering in the millions.  Their popularity provides additional business opportunities including spokesperson gigs, Cameo celebrity video messages, and public appearances.

One such appearance will take place at Live! Casino & Hotel in Philadelphia on Aug.  26. Billed as “An Evening with Housewives,” the performance offers an intimate evening with favorite housewives from New York and New Jersey.  Appearing is Dorinda Medley formerly of “The Real Housewives of New York” and currently on “Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip: Ex-Wives Club,” and Dolores Catania and Teresa Giudice, both from “The Real Housewives of New Jersey.”

Although each of these women is uniquely successful professionally and personally, they have some things in common: all three women are of varying degrees of Italian descent, they have close relationships with their children, and they are enterprising.

Here’s a glimpse into the lives of each of them:

Teresa Giudice

• Teresa is the only original cast member still on the show and the only cast member on all twelve seasons of “RHONJ.”
• She’s a New York Times bestselling author with four cookbooks and two memoirs.
• She’s a mom of four daughters: Gia, Gabriella, Milania, and Audriana.
• She’s marrying Luis (Louie) Ruelas in August.

Dolores Catania

• Dolores joined the cast of “RHONJ” in the show’s seventh season in 2016.
• In addition to appearing on “RHONJ,” Dolores owns a fitness franchise and flips houses with her ex-husband, Frank.
• Dolores raised her children, Gabrielle and Frankie, as a single mom.
• Catania and her siblings were raised in Paterson, NJ, along with her fellow “RHONJ”co-star Teresa Giudice.

Dorinda Medley

• Dorinda was a cast member of “RHONY” from its seventh until 12th season (2015-2020).
• She’s one of the eight cast members to appear on the second season of “The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip” which is set at her Blue Stone Manor residence in The Berkshires in Massachusetts.
• She navigated life in New York as a single mother to Hannah.
• While living in London with her first husband, Dorinda started her own cashmere company.

Their lives are more glamorous than many but what makes these housewives so popular is that millions of people can relate to them and their families.  As we peer into their lives, we sometimes get a glimpse of ours and like what we see.
