ROME – Organ donations and transplants hit record levels in Italy last year, the National Transplant Centre said in its annual report.
The most generous donors were 30-year-old Sardinians with a rate of 84.7% while the most generous city was Trento with 78.1% of OKs to donation on identity cards.
More than 2,000 donations were made last year, a new record, and more than 4,000 transplants, also a new record, the report said.
The least generous age bracket across Italy was 18 to 30 years old, probably because they are less well informed, said the report.
