John Viscomi: Cabinetmaker, carpenter and grandfather

John Viscomi of Wildwood Crest, N.J., Philadelphia and Delaware County, Pa., passed away peacefully on April 9.

Mr. Viscomi was the son of the late Antonio Viscomi and Teresina Celia and born in Petrizzi, Calabria, in Italy. He came to the United States at age 17. He was a member of Notre Dame De La Mer Parish. He was devoted to his family and loved playing with his grandchildren on the beach. He loved his backyard garden of tomatoes, peppers and figs.

He served in the Army in Korea shortly after becoming a U.S citizen, and later flew the flag outside his home every day. He was a union carpenter and cabinetmaker.

He is survived by his wife Sylvia (Patane), sons Anthony and Joseph; daughters Jeannette and Theresa (David) Rauffer; grandchildren Joseph, Elena, Alex, Nicholas, Benjamin and Grace; and great-grandchildren Teo and Luca; brother Vincent and sister Antoinette. He is predeceased by his sister Marie.

Mass of Christian Burial was held on April 13 at St. Kevin Church, 200 W. Sproul Road, Springfield, Pa. Burial was in Saints Peter & Paul Cemetery.
