October is Italian-American Heritage and Culture Month!

Celebrate Italian culture and heritage at the 16th Annual Olde Time Italian Festival in Wildwood, N.J. The family festival features a Procession of the Saints, Italian food favorites, vendors, games, and free live entertainment. The Sons of Italy’s Italian-American Festival offers a day rich in tradition featuring Italian food, kids’ activities, entertainment, local wine tastings, a beer garden, and a show of Italian-made autos. The Broadway musical version of “Rocky” finally makes its triumphant premiere!
“ROCKY, the Musical,” based on the Academy Award-winning film, features new musical numbers, along with favorites including “Eye of the Tiger” and “Gonna Fly Now.” (Starts Oct. 4, Walnut Street Theatre, 825 Walnut St, Philadelphia. www.walnutstreettheatre.org)

Dedicated to the memory of Edward McBride of PECO this year, the annual Italian-American Pride Day begins with 10 a.m. Mass at St. Monica’s Church at 17th and Ritner streets. Following Mass, a parade commences from Broad and Snyder at noon and makes its way to the Festival at Marconi Plaza. The 2022 Grand Marshal is Deana Martin. The Societa da Vinci Charity Golf Outing is a full day event that starts with lunch, driving range, 18-hole scramble golf tournament, hole-in-one challenges, long drive, putting contest, dinner, entertainment by the “smooth sounds of Steve Silicato,” 50/50 raffle, silent auctions, and cash bar. All the proceeds go to scholarships and grants to the local Italian-American community. TASTE! Philadelphia Festival, featuring food, wine, and spirits returns! The 22nd annual two-day festival will feature actor Kurt Russell showcasing his GoGi Wines distributed by Nationwide Wine & Spirits. Russell will be signing bottles of his GoGi Wines during the session on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Attendees can also discover award-winning wineries, craft breweries, distilleries, palate pleasing tastings, and more at Philly TASTE! A Celebration of Sid Mark & Frank Sinatra: The Voices of Many Generations is a two-hour special event program honoring broadcaster Sid Mark and musical icon Frank Sinatra. This program features a live performance of classic Frank Sinatra tunes by the vocalist Michael Martocci and his dynamic 22-piece orchestra. Featured special guest, Chuck Granata, a close friend of Brian and Sid Mark, will add personal and professional anecdotes about the broadcast legend, interspersed with unique video excerpts revealing insights about Mr. Sinatra and his recording career.
