The Delaware County Press Club presents an Olympic-sized Happy Hour for its season-opening program on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, from 4:30-6:30 p.m. at Fava Ristorante Italiano, 1102 Baltimore Pike, Suite #101, Glen Mills, Pa.
Attendees can celebrate the joy of the Games with special guest, Paris Olympian Allie Wilson. Wilson grew up in Wallingford, went to Strath Haven High School, and is related to Wilson’s Auctioneers & Appraisers in Chester Heights. Allie is a middle-distance runner specializing in the 800 meters. She continued her running career at Monmouth University before signing her first professional contract. She won the 2024 USA Indoor Track and Field Championships in the 800m. She was also the runner-up at the 2024 Olympic Trials in Eugene, OR which qualified her for the Paris Olympics this past summer. Her personal best is 1:57.52 for 800m.
Additional guests include the team from Temple University TV who covered the Games live from Paris. Chris Blackman, Director of Career Services, Klein College of Media and Communication; Paul Gluck/General Manager, TUTV/Associate Professor; Hayden Winter/Temple Senior; Natalie Koranda/Temple Senior; and Charly Schultz/Senior Producer for TUTV Live In Paris, traveled to Paris for two weeks. They developed, wrote, shot, and edited compelling stories beyond the sports arena, showcasing how a global event transformed Paris. The student studio team in Philadelphia volunteered their skills and expertise to help make the live shows happen.
Press Club events are open to the public. The cost for the Happy Hour program is $45 for members and $50 for guests and walk-ins. The Happy Hour ticket price includes a buffet featuring a Mediterranean Station with meats and cheeses, jumbo shrimp cocktail, caprese skewers, pasta bar, chocolate mousse shooters, and more, plus a cash bar. As a courtesy to the venue, reservations are recommended but guests may also pay by cash, check, or credit card at the door.
