Philadelphia—On Sunday, May 17, a procession of statues of Roman Catholic saints will take place 11 a.m.-1 p.m. The procession begins immediately following the 10 a.m. Mass at St. Mary Magdalen de Pazzi Church, located on Montrose Street, between Seventh and Eighth streets, in South Philadelphia. A traditional Italian brass band will accompany the procession, which starts at the church, goes south on Eighth Street to Ellsworth Street, then to Ninth Street. From there, it goes north on Ninth Street, with a stop at Washington Avenue for the Italian Market blessing of its merchants, workers and customers. A dedication will be made to the Blessed Mother with the “Ave Maria.” Afterward, there will be a St. Paul Parish hospitality booth for 50/50 raffle tickets and a one-of-a-kind selfie with Pope Francis.
Vineland, N.J.—On Wednesday, Aug. 26, the St. Padre Pio Senior Club is planning a bus trip to see Nashville at the Shore at Doolan’s Shore Club in Spring Lake, N.J. The bus departs at 8:15 a.m. from the Rosary Hall parking lot. The cost is $68 per person and includes a one-hour open bar, plus a luncheon with complimentary wine and soda at each table. Dinner selections feature sirloin of beef, chicken marsala, or tilapia francaise.
