Also, Elmwood Park Zoo’s favorite family tradition, Wild Lights, returns with more lights and decorative attractions than ever before! During this walk-through experience, guests will be surrounded by dazzling light displays, illuminated animals and live entertainment. And congratulations are in order to the Zoo and Executive Director and CEO Al Zone. The zoo recently announced that an anonymous donor has given the land-mark a $30 million gift to fund the construction of a new animal hospital and welcome center. This year’s tour includes several trees inspired by Christmas trees seen at the White House, in conjunction with the exhibition, “Jacqueline Kennedy and H. F. du Pont: From Winterthur to the White House.” Many displays are inspired by the traditions and festivities of the season as enjoyed by du Pont and his family. New this year is a toy train display, featuring Standard Gauge toy trains, presented by the Standard Gauge Module Association. And don’t miss the large-scale gingerbread version of the Winterthur mansion. The gingerbread house will be made by Bredenbeck’s Bakery of Chestnut Hill, Pa.
