REHOBOTH BEACH — At a planning session held recently at Touch of Italy on Del. 1, newly elected officers of UNICO National-Rehoboth Area Chapter- gathered to set a calendar of meetings and events for the 2016-2017 season.

Chapter meetings will be held on the third Thursday of each month from September to June, except for December. These meetings will be held at the Glade Club House or at local restaurants and will feature Italian favorites and cultural activities.

Events throughout the year will aim to promote the goals of UNICO, which include community service, charitable donations and the promotion of Italian heritage.

The name UNICO represents Unity, Neighborliness, Integrity, Charity and Opportunity.

Plans include:

  • “Christmas Tea” at Harbor Healthcare and Rehab Center
  • Italian film night
  • “Pasta Challenge” event
  • Saint Joseph’s Table in March
  • Cooley’s Anemia Walk-a-Thon in May
  • Italian language lessons

Many of these events are done in cooperation with other local UNICO chapters and are open to members and guests. For more information about UNICO and its programs please contact Maria Teresa Morrison at mtmbeach@comcast.net.
